Global sourcing leader to hospitals and IDNs, ASP Global announces the addition of Bethany Gleim as Director of Value Analysis to the team.

Previously a value management consultant for Providence Health in Seattle and the Mayo Clinic, Gleim will oversee ASP’s value analysis efforts required by hospitals and IDNs when evaluating new products, including those within, or being considered for, high-value global sourcing programs.

“Bethany’s understanding of hospitals’ value analysis processes and clinical teams’ requirements for formulary changes will enable them to more effectively access the global market for common, commoditized hospital products simultaneously improving quality and reducing costs for those healthcare providers,” says ASP Global CEO Lorne Tritt.

“Bethany’s experience of more than 11 years in hospital value analysis adds significantly to ASP Global’s ability to effectively respond to the needs of the CFOs, supply chain executives and value analysis teams of hospitals and IDNs nationwide,” Tritt continues. “The value analysis team at every hospital in the country plays a critical role in ensuring the capability, quality, and utility of new products entering the formulary.”

Global sourcing refers to the process by which hospitals and IDNs generate and maintain direct factory relationships worldwide for the production and acquisition of common, commoditized hospital products. The process, facilitated by ASP Global, generates 20-50 percent savings compared to products acquired through a traditional distributor relationship and frequently result in higher quality products with greater levels of clinical utility and patient satisfaction.

In one such example, ASP Global partner Northside Hospital distributes 60,000 comfort care kits to patients every year. The kits contain mouthwash, lotion, lip balm, hand sanitizer, earplugs, an eye mask and more.

“Our new kits sourced through ASP Global are a 10x increase in quality with 30 percent savings,” says Northside Hospital Clinical Supply Chain Manager Kathy James. “Reducing supply costs while maintaining or improving quality is a top goal. Our global sourcing program through ASP Global accomplishes both goals by improving outcomes and reducing costs.”

According to Healthgrades, Northside exceeded the national average in nine out of 10 Patient Experience metrics for Hospital Quality.

“All of these efforts to improve the quality and utility of our hospital branded, patient amenity and other products sourced through ASP Global have done nothing but improve our HCAHPS scores,” James says. Read the full ASP Global case study with Northside Hospital here.
